LUDHIANA: The 4th Prof SB Khurana memorial lecture was held at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.
Dr Inder S Anand, professor of medicine from University of Minnesota, USA, delivered the lecture on the topic of 'Heart failure: Translating lessons from Pathophysiology to therapeutics'.
Among topics discussed at the event, the speaker also spoke about why heart failures are getting so common in India.

Dr Inder said, "A study in the US has shown that 6% people suffer from heart failures in the country. No such study has been conducted in India."
He also talked about a study conducted 20 years back and now in Kheda and Puheer villages and mentioned that there was rise in cases of heart failures by 1-2%. Talking about prevention, he said, "There is a need to improve lifestyle besides sorting out issues including obesity. One should increase time spent in doing physical exercises to 40-50 minutes."
