Rajkot: A major fire engulfed four factories in the
Kandla Free Trade Zone (KFTZ) in Kutch late night on Monday.
Though there were no casualties, it took 16 fire tenders and 22 water tankers over 12 hours to bring the fire under control.
“The blowing wind spread the fire from one of the warehouses to three others near it,” said
Deepak Gadhvi, fire officer, Kandla Port.
The fire was first reported at
Haresh Processors Ltd and then spread to Safari Polymers, Lotus Recycle and
Flex Private Ltd.
“The blowing wind from the sea side led to the spread in fire,” Gadhvi added.
Fire fighters were called in from six centres namely Kandla, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Anjar, Mundra and IFFCO.
“There is no initial estimate about the damage caused but it could run into crores of rupees,” said a police official.
