Chennai Model Arthi to debut in Bejoy Nambiar's bilingual
Model Arthi Venkatesh is not a new face in Chennai. After doing several brand endorsements, this Chennai ponnu is finally ready to make her acting debut. She will be seen opposite Dulquer Salmaan in Bejoy Nambiar's Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, Solo. Ask her why it took her so long to get into mainstream cinema, and she laughs, 'I have been getting offers to act in films for quite some time now.
Back then, I was not keen to take up film projects as modelling took up most of my time. But when Bejoy Nambiar offered me a role, I couldn't refuse.'
Arthi has already begun shooting for her scenes in Kochi. She says, 'Bejoy got in touch with me quite some time ago for another film he was working on. I auditioned for a role, and he even trained me in acting, as I was new. But that project is put on hold now. Later, he again called me for Solo and things fell in place. I began shooting for my portions and the journey has been interesting so far. I am not scared of camera as I am used to it. But emoting and mouthing dialogues are pretty new.'
Ask her about her co-star Dulquer and she smiles, 'He is a superstar in Mollywood, but he comes across as a humble guy. He made me comfortable on the set and there was no awkwardness at all. He's such a down-to-earth person.'
But, the language, she says, is a problem. 'I don't know Malayalam. So, that's been a little difficult,' she admits. Arthi also says that she's open to taking up interesting subjects in the future. 'My family, too, were supportive about my decision to act, as it is not every day that one would get an opportunity like this. If I come across any interesting films, I will surely take it up. But I would never ever let go of modelling, though,' she signs off.
