The Parliament’s Winter Session is proving to be a near washout as the Opposition parties clash with the government on the issue of demonetisation. MP and BSP Supremo Mayavati slammed the Modi government and said that they should not assert themselves like dictators. PTI
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also slammed the government stating that Modi worries about governing only 5000 to 6000 people and has nothing to do with the pains of the masses. Opposition disrupted the proceedings of the Lok Sabha for the fourth consecutive day demanding discussion on demonetisation on a rule which entails voting forcing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the House . Mahajan tried to run the Question Hour amid the ruckus but finally the house had to be adjourned for the day. PTI
MoS for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi however backed the government’s stance and said that the nation was the Prime Minister on demonetisation adding that the Opposition would look bad in front of people for opposing the move. He however promised the House that the government will provide a response in the Parliament. PTI

TMC’s Sudip Bandhopadhyay said he wanted a debate but demanded prime minister’s presence and that the Speaker admit their adjournment motion, which will result in the division of votes and passage of a resolution, on demonetisation. PTI

As BJP members also created a ruckus, an angry Kurien snapped at them. “Why should treasury benches do this? Mr Minister, why should treasury benches to this,” he asked Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. PTI
BSP Supremo Mayawati said that Modi is insensitive to the poor man’s ordeal while lashing out at him over the demonetisation issue. “He should come and listen to the pain people have faced because of his decision,” Mayawati said.
