Check out the shortlist for Sports Book of The Year

eir Sport has today announced the shortlist for the eir Sport Sports Book of The Year with a shortlist of five selected.

The final shortlist includes; ‘What do you think of that?’ written by Kieran Donaghy with Kieran Shannon; Rob Heffernan's Autobiography, ‘Walking Tall’; ‘Out of Control’ by Cathal McCarron with Christy O’Connor; ‘The Battle’ by Paul O’Connell and ‘Spirit of '58’ written by Evan Marshall.

“We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the eir Sport Sports Book of The Year,” Brian Quinn, Operations Director of eir Sport said. “It was a difficult task for the judging panel to narrow it down to five contenders this year. This shortlist reflects a diversity of writing styles and subject matters.

“The overall winning author will receive a €1,500 cash prize, a specially commissioned trophy and €10,000 worth of TV advertising on eir Sport.”

“eir Sport wishes to commend each author and publisher who submitted books for the award with special congratulations to the five authors and publishers on the final shortlist.”

This is the second year of the eir Sport Sports Book of The Year. Last year, eir Sport and Publishing Ireland announced John Leonard's ‘Dub Sub Confidential’ as the winner.

The 2017 winner will be announced at an event in Dublin on December 5.
