The fear of unknown and unexpected haunts everyone says H H Maa Purnananda...

In the animal kingdom, the small animals live in constant fear of being hunted down by the big ones. The same holds true for humans at not just physical, but mental and intellectual levels as well.

On the health parameter, fear (as an emotion) can leave you with a higher pulse rate than normal. Frequent attacks of such a condition could lead to health and nerve ailments. Intelligent that we humans are, why push ourselves through the danger of such sufferings? One must grow out of all kinds of fear; be it the death of the body due to decay and disease, or the death of mental peace and happiness due to turbulence of unrest and grief, or the death of ego and pride due to the pressure of the competitive world around.

The analytical research executed on human mind and intellect by wise men of the yore has defined the cause of various kinds of fear and has also provided definite remedies for them. It has been found out that yogic exercise, pranayam and meditation are good therapeutic treatments to deal with fear to some extent. Moreover, systematic studies of certain scriptural texts under the guidance of a Guru, also provide a sure cure for fear.

Sreemad Bhagawad Geeta is one of the most popular scriptural texts of this kind. When noble Pandava prince, Arjuna goes through the terrible fear of losing his kith and kin in the battle of Kurukshetra, it results in the most inspiring and elevating conversation between him and his favourite friend Sree Krishna that pulls him out of fear and makes his wisdom steady at that crucial moment. Hence, much can be learnt and absorbed by anyone who sincerely tries to understand the concepts given therein. With this focus, the discourses on Sreemad Bhagawad Geeta are being telecast in English on ‘Epic’ channel, every Saturday at 8.00 am.

In addition, the discourses on some specific techniques for practice of meditation, as expounded by the great saint Adi Shankaracharya in ‘Nirvaan Shatkam’, are being telecast on ‘Sri Sankara TV’ channel, every Sunday at 8.30 am. The Guru explains the Vedic philosophy of the Real and the unreal which, when understood properly and practised sincerely, transforms the conditioned mind of an individual into a fully blossomed heart.

Going forward with this thought, one of the annual celebrations at Satyavrat Institute of Subjective Sciences, Noida, is the Maha Abhishekam of Sree Ishwara at the Temple which inspires the seekers to unravel the mysteries of the reality on the path of their spiritual pursuit. As per Vedanta philosophy, Ishwara symbolises the purest form-representative of the Un-manifest Brahman, the Absolute Reality. All are welcome to this annual feature, which takes place on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima-Dev Deepawali on 14th November; it will be followed by a 5-day Retreat on The Geeta.
