Guess what?: Yayan Ruhian to appear in film on Japan

J

AKARTA: Yayan Ruhian seems to have a thing for Japan. After his appearance last year in Japanese movie Yakuza Apocalypse, the Indonesian action actor is slated for a role in another movie on Japan.

“This time it’s an Indonesian production in collaboration with Japan. We just completed the shooting,” he said as reported by tribunnews.com over the weekend.

Yayan declined to elaborate, pending an official announcement from the production company.

“But I can say that I will appear in action scenes,” said the 48-year-actor, who played Tasu Leech in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Yayan started his career in the film industry in 2008 as one of the pencak silat martial art choreographers in Merantau, in which he specialized on the silat harimau and silat minang moves. The trainer at Perguruan Silat Tenaga Dasar Indonesia later appeared in The Raid (2011).

To keep fit, as he could work 10 hours on a single shooting day, Yayan said he had an intensive training regimen. — JP
