'Illegal' hookah centre sealed by Cantonment

SECUNDERABAD: A hookah centre, being run illegally on the premises of Tivoli Cinema Complex near JBS, was sealed by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) authorities on Monday. This is the first time that a hookah centre has been sealed by Cantonment officials in the area. The decision to seal the centre was taken following a raid conducted by a team of officials, led by SCB sanitation inspector M Devender."A complaint lodged with the Begumpet police, by locals of the area, was forwarded to us. We decided to raid the place on receiving the complaint," said Devender adding, "As per the Cantonment Act, no hookah centre can be set up within the Cantonment area. This particular centre was being run illegally by the theatre management. We found minors and college students at the centre during the raid."
Apart from pasting a notice to seal property (bungalow No. 221) on the premises, they also seized material found inside the centre.
