Woman dies in hospital, family alleges murder
Ghaziabad: The family members of a 19-year-old woman, who died under mysterious circumstances at GTB Hospital, Delhi in the wee hours of Monday, have accused her husband of killing her. The woman, Savita Kumari, was hospitalised on Sunday.
The couple was staying in a rented accommodation in Karkar Model where Savita’s husband, Brijesh, used to work as an electrician.
They got married nearly one-and-a-half years ago. Savita’s family members told TOI that the couple had a four-month-old son who had also died nearly 15 days ago.
According to the woman’s family, Brijesh called them up at around 2:30 am on Monday to inform about Savita’s death. “Savita had come home three days ago. She had told us that the death of her son had occurred during a fight with her husband. She told us that the kid was hit on his head by the buckle of a belt while Brijesh was thrashing her with it. According to Savita, she had kept quiet for fear that her husband would be arrested. On earlier occasions too, she had complained that Brijesh had ill-treated her,” Savita’s cousin, Lalit (21), told TOI.
A complaint was registered by Lalit at Link Road police station of Ghaziabad. However, the police did not register any FIR.
“The autopsy report revealed that the woman died of tuberculosis from which she had been suffering for a long time. Investigations revealed that allegations of dowry death heaped against the accused were untrue. No case has been registered,” said SHO, Link Road police station, Rajkumar Yadav.
