Gold medalists on cloud nine, share their dreams

VARANASI: For Jyoti Prabha Sahu, the support of her husband and in-laws bore fruit when she received gold medal in LLB during the 38th convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) on Sunday.
"I had to give up studies after I got married. But, my husband, who is a lawyer, asked me to complete my graduation. It was a difficult journey as I got pregnant during my first semesternd but continued to go to university with the baby bump.I have no words to explain my happiness," she told TOI. Jyoti wishes to get into judiciary.
University topper Ruchika Paranjape bagged two medals including Dr. Vibhuti Narayan Singh Smriti gold medal. "Music is everything to me," said the M.Mus gold medalist. Paranjape is currently learning classical music under retired BHU reader Vanmala Parvatkar and is also preparing for NET. Pranav Laha, who also got gold medal in B.Mus, said he wishes to promote classical music. Gold medalist Prakhar Pandey, on the other hand, expressed his desire to become an IAS officer. He is pursuing his PG in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
Uzma Qaisar, gold medalist in education, aspires to become a professor and expand the charity school run by her father in Sonarpura. "As of now, classes only up to Class III are being run there but I intend to expand it further," she said.
Gold medalist in mass communication and journalism Sumit Kumar Pandey, a native of Azamgarh, is currently a news presenter in AIR and wishes to become a professor. He is pursuing his M.Phil in journalism from MGKV.
Ratnadeep Jaiswal, who received a cheque of Rs. 50,000 as a part of Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta fellowship programme for securing highest marks in MA Sociology, said that he is wants to become a professor and impart education to poor and underprivileged students. He is pursuing his M.Phil in Sociology from MGKV.
