Harry Kane wants to remain at Tottenham for 'a long, long time'

LONDON -- Harry Kane has revealed he is in contract talks with Tottenham and says he is confident of reaching an agreement to keep him at the club for "a long, long time."

Kane, 22, agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract in February but he has since won the Premier League Golden Boot and established himself as England's main striker, and Spurs want to reward his progress with another new deal.

However, reports have claimed an agreement is unlikely because Kane wants to earn more than £100,000-a-week and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is currently unwilling to break that barrier for any player.

But speaking after scoring a late double in Saturday's 3-2 win over West Ham, Kane said: "I'm happy at the club. A lot of people are going to speculate about contracts but I am happy -- you saw me out there today.

"There's not many better feelings than being at White Hart Lane and scoring in a London derby. So yeah, I am happy at the club and want to be here for a long, long time.

"We are in talks and I'm sure we will get something sorted. I'm not panicking and I'm not demanding anything, as I've read in the paper. We're having a conversation and I have no doubts that we will get it sorted. As I say, I want to be here for a long time and I am sure I will."

Kane has been linked to other clubs, including Manchester United, but on Thursday manager Mauricio Pochettino urged Spurs fans to stay calm over his future -- a message repeated by the forward.

"Look, it's going to happen," he said of the speculation. "I think it shows that I am doing well, for one thing. I am happy here. Hopefully we will have no issues with the contract -- we have only just started talking about it. Get that down and get that wrapped up. I'm fully concentrated on playing for Tottenham and winning for Tottenham and I think there are no doubts after today that my mind is anywhere else.

"We've got a great young team, new training ground, new stadium being built, great young manager. The future is very bright. It's important that we keep hold of all our players and keep building on this great team that we have. For us now it's to start winning trophies and competitions -- that's the next step."
