Eminent botanist and environmentalist Dr Peter Raven will deliver a talk on "Biodiversity and the Future of India" at Panjab University (PU) on November 21.

Eminent botanist and environmentalist Dr Peter Raven will deliver a talk on "Biodiversity and the Future of India" at Panjab University (PU) on November 21.
President emeritus and former director at the Missouri Botanical Garden, US, Dr Peter Raven would deliver the talk from 11am to 12noon on Monday at the botany department auditorium at PU, Sector 14 campus.
Dr Raven is a highly distinguished global leader of conservation, and has many achievements to his credit.

He has been the former president of the American Association for Advancement of Science.
He received the National Medal of Science, the highest award for scientific accomplishment in the US. He served as home secretary of the National Academy of Sciences, US, for a long time.
He has authored several text books such as "Biology of Plants", which are very popular among botany students.
Dr Raven would be accompanied by noted PU alumnus and fellow of Royal Society professor Kamal Bawa, who is widely known for his work on Himalayan Biodiversity.
Prof Bawa was earlier honoured with Vigyan Rattan Award by PU. Prof Bawa is based at University of Massachusetts (USA) and Ashokha Trust for research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bangalore, which is a research institution in the areas of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
