Hoffenheim maintain unbeaten start vs. Hamburg, Frankfurt beat Bremen

Hoffenheim extended their unbeaten start in the Bundesliga to an 11th game with a 2-2 draw against a Hamburg side who remain rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga.

The hosts at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena made the better start to the game, but their failure to take their chances came back to haunt them in the 28th minute when Filip Kostic put Hamburg in front.

The hosts had to wait until first-half stoppage time before levelling through Sandro Wagner, and it was not long before they took the lead.

Steven Zuber's shot was not irresistible, but it nevertheless found its way past Christian Mathenia in the Hamburg goal in the 49th minute.

HSV hit back through Nicolai Muller on the hour mark and they tried as hard as their hosts to find a winner, but their efforts were not rewarded as they were left as the only Bundesliga club still waiting for a first win of the season.

Despite maintaining their unbeaten record, Hoffenheim missed out on a chance to move up to third in the table with a win.

Eintracht Frankfurt left it late to beat Werder Bremen 2-1 and join a group of five clubs on 21 points.

Florian Grillitsch gave Bremen the lead with a stunning strike before the break, but half-time substitute Alexander Meier needed just seven minutes to make his mark on the game, bringing Frankfurt level with a right-footed shot.

Meier missed a chance to make it two as Frankfurt pushed for a winner, which they found in the very last minute when Aymen Barkok let rip from 25 yards.

Defeat leaves Bremen inside the bottom three while the Eagles soar to seventh, level on points with third-placed Borussia Dortmund.
