Pammi aunty cooks up a storm in city’s party circuits

Ever since, the character of Pammi aunty, a loud Punjabi matron, has become a hit on the social media, thanks to the videos made by telly actor Ssumier Pasricha people have gone gushy over her. Right from her bahu-bashing chatathons to the rollers stuck on a weirdly wrapped towel — her demeanour and persona never fail to evoke laughter. This is the reason that many city merrymakers are adopting Pammi aunty theme to add that extra pizzazz to their parties…
Mehndi, Pammi ishtyle
The popularity of Pammi aunty videos has grown tremendously and there is an increasing demand for Pammi aunty theme parties now.City-based event planner Nilay Verma endorses this thought and goes on to add, “I’m getting a lot of queries regarding Pammi aunty theme. While Pammi aunty is the undoubted star of these theme parties, other characters that are not seen but only felt in these videos, including the nasty bahu and Pammi’s friend Sarla bhenji, are also quite popular, shares Nilay and adds, “In the parties that I organise on this theme, I ensure that the whole storyboard comes alive, with a proper gossip session planned, that makes for a lot of rib-tickling moments.”
Putting together the accessories
The real charm of Pammi’s character lies in her over-the-top accent and even more brazen accessories, shares another event planner Pansy Sabarwal. She adds, “This is the latest theme that city’s party throwers want, a trend that is quite haute in North India. But the toughest job is to get hold of those larger-than-life goggles in deep pinks, burnt reds, rakish blue that make Pammi stand out. Tacky plastic rollers also have to be sourced to get the right kind of Pammi effect. I have to seek my Delhi friends’ help to put all these things together. This is a new trend and everybody wants to ride this wave now.”
Ideal kitty theme
One arena where Pammi aunty has really struck a chord is in the kitty circuit. Entrepreneur Rupali Dewan reveals with a laugh: “Our kitty group has all young members and after concepts like pool party, jungle etc., we are constantly looking out for new and exciting themes. And for my next kitty, it is Pammi aunty theme, where I will ensure that everyone comes with a towel for headgear and a neem pack firmly in place.”
