Trivandrum Tennis Club to host maiden ITF men's tourney

For the first time, the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Men's Futures will be held in Kerala at the Trivandrum Tennis Club (TTC) clay courts in Thiruvananthapuram from March 20 to 27, 2017.

KOCHI: For the first time, the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Men's Futures will be held in Kerala at the Trivandrum Tennis Club (TTC) clay courts in Thiruvananthapuram from March 20 to 27, 2017.
The total prize money of the championship will be $15000. This is the first time Kerala will be hosting the men's tournament, according to Thomas Paul, secretary Kerala Tennis Association (KTA).
The decision was taken during the recent All India Tennis Association (AITA) annual general meeting held in New Delhi which was attended by Nourideen Mather, the emeritus president of KTA and Paul.

TTC had earlier hosted ITF Futures women's $25000 and $15000 tournaments in 2007 and 2008, respectively and several satellite, and AITA series championships over the years.
Top Indian players Mahesh Bhupathi, Prakash Amritraj, Sania Mirza, Somdev Devvarman, Yuki Bhambri and his sister Prerna Bhambri have all played in age-group tournaments at the TTC clay courts.
