HYDERABAD: Two persons, including an engineering graduate, were arrested by the Saidabad police on Saturday for their alleged involvement in vandalising eight cars at Laxminagar in the wee hours of Thursday.
The Saidabad police said N Venkata Santosh Sai Saran Prasad, 23, a B Tech graduate, and his friend B Laxman, 23, who runs a tiffin centre, both residents of Kachanbagh, were arrested for the arson.
“The two committed the offence in an inebriated state.
On that day, the duo and their friends had a birthday party and while returning home they committed the offence. However, there was no personal enmity with any of the victims and it was purely an act of mischief done in a drunken state,“ assistant commissioner of police (Malakpet) Ch Sudhakar said.
Wearing a mask, they went on a car-damaging spree in three different lanes of Laxminagar. The two completed graduation and had no full-time employment. The victims were also called to the police station to identify the culprits, but none could recognise them which only proved that it was not a case of personal enmity .
The two were caught based on CCTV footage recovered from the scene of offence.
The CCTV cameras were arranged by the colony residents as part of community policing.
Using the vehicle registration number, the culprits were traced and arrested.
