Udupi: Hotelier and resident of Kuntalpadi, Karkala, Avinash Shetty, 26, owns a family restaurant at Karkala through which he provides special service to Army personnel and their families. He gives a 25% discount on the bill to army personnel. He believes he should not earn a profit from them. He doesn’t give them free food because he believes if he does it, the food will not be valued.
He also contributes a bit from his earnings to the Ex-Army Men’s Society in Udupi.
After finishing his diploma in computer science, Avinash took Hide Out restaurant on lease as he was more interested in running a business. He said, “My ambition is to serve the nation. I expect others to follow me and contribute a small amount of their earning to the army. I’ve also kept a charity box which will be given to the society on January 26, 2017. Since soldiers are often dangerous situations, it’s one way of appreciating their effort. TNN
