PUNE: Former Indian rifle shooting coach Pawan Singh is representing India at the world conference organized by International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) at Munich, Germany.
Singh, who is now the co-director of Gagan Narang's shooting academy, Gun For Glory, is the only Indian contender to be nominated by the National Rifle Association of India to participate in this conference.
ISSF has organized this conference to update the rules and regulations for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
ISSF Section Committees, Athletes Committee, Coaches Advisory Committee and Rules Committee reviewed the old rules and brainstormed to modify the rules and regulations. The committees also discussed the additional responsibilities that coaches, players and organizing committee members must carry during this conference. An Ad Hoc Rules Committee will now be carrying out the complex task of incorporating these proposals into rules drafts.
"Our objective is to implement the revised set of rules and regulations at the upcoming World Cup to be hosted by India in Feb-Mar 2017. These rules will be implemented for the first time in a World Cup and India will be the first country to do so. This conference was very crucial in doing so efficiently," Singh said.
Looking at Singh's knowledge in the field, he was also invited by the ISSF to address the ISSF World Cup Organizing Committee Workshop 2016. He is the youngest Indian who has been honoured by ISSF after the time span of almost 70 years.
Singh specialises in the field of equipment control. He has been the jury member and an equipment control officer for many national as well as international shooting championships. He himself has won many medals in national shooting championships.
