Chandigarh: Maulvi held for thrashing girl, gets bail

Local police arrested a Maulvi of a Hallo Majra mosque for allegedly beating a minor girl with a stick after she didn’t complete her home work.

The accused was identified as Jisan, Moulvi of a Deep Complex, Hallo Majra.

Police said that the victim takes Urdu classes from him in the mosque.

The accused was booked following the complaint of Vrinda Sharma, counsellor, Child Home helpline, Sector 19.

Vrinda in her complaint stated that she was informed by maternal grandmother of the victim following which she talked to the child in her school in Ramdarbar.

The girl allegedly had wounds on her back following which a complaint was lodged with Sector 31 police station.

A case under Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, has been registered at Sector 31 police station.

A local court released the accused on bail.
