Jammu, November 18

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today distributed financial assistance among the people who lost their cattle in border firing.

The minister distributed cheques for Rs 6,91,000 among 19 villagers hailing from Bidhipur Jattan, Suchetgarh, Flora, Abdullian, Gopar Basti, Sai Khurd and Joura Farm at the SDM Office, RS Pura.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the government had taken all possible steps to safeguard the lives of people during any kind of exigency.

He said the priority of the government was to construct concrete bunkers along the Line of Control and international border. The minister asked the officers concerned to complete the nodal formalities for construction of bunkers within the stipulated timeframe.

Sham Choudhary said the government had started development of border areas under the Border Area Development Programme(BADP) to provide various facilities to the people of border district.
