It was a double wedding for
Karan Sharma and
Tiaara Kar, who exchanged nuptial vows on November 16 following a two-and-half years of courtship. Since Karan is Garhwali and Tiaara, a Bengali, the wedding was conducted according to these two traditions in Karan’s hometown, Ranipokhari in Dehradun.
The actor wore the conventional Bengali topor (conical headgear), while Tiaara was lifted by her brothers and taken around him in seven circles.
They then went on to take saat pheras according to Garhwali customs. The bride wore a traditional Garhwali tehri nath (nose ring), too.
Facing cash crunch due to demonetisation, Karan mock-begged his guests to give him change of `1,000 or queue up outside ATMs to withdraw cash.

During the sangeet, the bride and the groom performed to romantic numbers like Mere Haath Mein Tera Haath Ho ('Fanaa') and Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye ('Jurm'). Karan was an epitome of a jubilant bridegroom — he started dancing to Utha Le Jaunga Tujhe Main ('Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa') when the baraat reached the venue. In his excitement, he also gave his shoes away to his saalis (sisters-in-law) and paid a handsome bribe to get them back.
