IPCC investigates death of man in police custody

The death of a man in police custody in West London is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
The man, who was described as white and aged in his 50s, was arrested in Acton on Thursday morning and taken into custody in Southall.
Officers became concerned for his welfare at about 06:00 GMT on Friday. He was pronounced dead at 07:30 GMT.
The IPCC said medical assistance had been provided by police and paramedics.
IPCC investigators went to the police station and have taken initial statements from custody suite officers and staff.
Efforts are being made to contact the man's family to inform them of his death. A post-mortem examination is due to take place in the coming days.
Associate Commissioner Tom Milsom said: "My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man and all those affected by his death.
"The investigation, which is in its very early stages, will look at the full circumstances surrounding this incident."
