Did you know Akshay Kumar turned into a snake in a film?

Those days when movies based on 'icchadhari naag and naagin' were the flavour of the season even Akshay Kumar tried his hands at it.

Indian TV audience, nowadays is totally tripping over Mouni Roy's turn as Naagin in TV series Naagin and Naagin 2. While Indian TV is tripping over Naagin, there was a time when Bollywood too used to have actors transforming into a naag or naagin in films like Nagina, Naagin, Nigahein...even a Jaani Dushman Anokhi Kahaani etc. But nowadays, it has become obsolete as far as Bollywood films are concerend. Those days when it was the flavour of the season even Akshay Kumar tried his hands at it. Yes! you read that right. Akshay Kumar too played a snake in a much delayed film called Hatya: The Murder. The film was shot in 1992 but was finally released in 2004, no points for guessing this dated film was a disaster at the box office as no one turned up in the theatre to watch Akshay Kumar's turn into a snake. The story of the film goes like this; Murugan (Rajendra Gupta) and his men approaches multi-millionaire Ratanlal (Navin Nischol) to buy his plot of land so that they can construct a 5 star hotel. But Ratanlal refuses to sell thus he, his son Ravi (Akshay Kumar) and his daughter Seema are mercilessly killed by the duo. Ravi's wife Kavita (Varsha Usgaonkar) believes that Ravi survives by doctor's miracle - unknown to her that Ravi is indeed dead but his body is taken over by a vigorous cobra who prepares itself to prey on all Ravi's enemies. As the film was shot over a decade, one could easily make out the difference in the age of the actors including Akshay Kumar and his hairstyle changes from one frame to another. Going by the films Akshay Kumar is doing nowadays, it's very surprising to see Akshay Kumar in a tacky fantasy film but you can't really blame him as this was supposed to be one of his early films. Full points to him though for completing the film even after a decade of it going on floor, not many actors do that.
