CHENNAI: PMK leader and member of the parliament Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday urged chief commissioner (CEC) Nasim Zaidi to postpone elections in Thanjavur, Aravakurichi and Thirupparankundram assembly constituencies, which go to polls on Saturday.
In a letter to the CEC, Anbumani alleged that there was "violation of election code of conduct and large level voter bribing" across the three constituencies.

The Dharmapuri MP requested the Election Commission to postpone the polls, conduct a "detailed enquiry into voter bribing" by the DMK and AIADMK and disqualify the candidates belonging to both the parties from contesting.
In his letter, Anbumani alleged that there was "large scale violation of the election code of conduct and unprecedented voter bribing exhibited by the DMK and AIADMK."
Recalling that the Election Commission had ordered postponement of the polls earlier due to confiscation of cash and other items, he wrote that his party had emphasised that the polls should be conducted only after the ECI took measures to curb money distribution.
He said DMK and AIADMK had already completed distributing money to voters. In Thanjavur, Rs 500 was distributed on behalf of DMK, and Rs 2,000 was distributed on behalf of AIADMK. In Aravakurichi, Rs 1,500 was distributed on behalf of AIADMK and Rs 500 on behalf of DMK. This was the same case in Thirupparankundram too, he alleged.

He said DMK and AIADMK candidates were distributing the demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to voters. He alleged that the state Election Commission had not been able to take any action against either of these parties and their candidates till date “despite being aware of the facts.”
Out of the Rs 130 crore that was distributed, Rs 120 crore was in demonetised currencies, he said.
