Only one student turned up to write the paper at the recently conducted Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) exam for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course. The case was worse for the BA in Political Science exam where the entire class bunked the paper. Both exams had been scheduled by the varsity for the same day.

The university administration had been preparing for conducting the exam since the past couple of months, in collaboration with a PG centre based in Chennai.

Twenty-six students, who were to take part in the examination, were affiliated with the Bharath Postgraduate College PG centre, Chennai, out of whom only one attended the exam.

This is after the exam had been the subject of a legal tussle as, in June last year, the aforementioned courses had been de-recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). However, the Madras High Court had given directives to hold examinations for those students who were already admitted to the course, according to a report in The Hindu.

For all other programmes and courses, the examinations will be held as per schedule, the Madras High Court had said. The students, about 7,500 of them, are affiliated with the PG centre.

Festive offer

“The students were from Tamil Nadu and the varsity was forced to conduct the exam in the state after the UGC raised objection to territorial jurisdiction,” an official is reported to have said.

The exams are scheduled to be held from November 16 to 30, 2016.
