No evidence recovered from Shalimar mall owners

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh police failed to recover any tool of evidences, including computers, printers and laptops from the possession of managing directors of Shalimar Estate Private Limited, R K Aggarwal, and his wife Kamlesh Aggarwal, during their two-day police custody.
The accused couple, arrested for fraud worth Rs 10.33 crore with about 22 persons, was produced in a local court and remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.

They were arrested by Panchkula police and taken to Chandigarh on production warrants by Chandigarh police on November 15. Police sources said raids were conducted at several places, including the Aggarwals' house in Sector 8 but nothing was found.
Sources said Aggarwal claimed that one of his relatives had taken everything from his house. His younger brother will be questioned by the investigation agency. The FIR, which is being probed by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), was registered on the complaint of V K Gupta and others.
Meanwhile, police personnel from Sector 3 police station also obtained production warrants against the Aggarwals in connection with another FIR registered against them at the police station in Sector 3.
The accused allegedly duped as many as 110 people of more than Rs 70 crore and purchased properties worth several crores in peripheral areas of Panchkula. They also used allottees' money for construction of another mall in Mohali. Aggarwal, who has been at large for over one year and his wife were arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Panchkula police on November 1. Notably, R K Aggarwal had been declared proclaimed offender (PO) in several cases pending before Chandigarh Consumer Court.
