MUMBAI: Borivli Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel reunited a 19-year-old girl who had allegedly run away from her Jalgaon home to Mumbai to marry a Dhule-based youth, with her parents.
Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, an RPF team patrolling platform number 6 at Borivli station noticed the girl with three youths looking scared. The officials questioned the three youths and the girl and on getting evasive replies, took them to the Borivli RPF outpost.

“The girl identiffied herself as Kalyani Deshmukh from Chaupada in Jalgaon and one of the youths as her boyfriend Gautam Shirsat (22) from Dhule. She said they were seeing each other for five years and had come to Mumbai to get a court marriage,” an RPF officer said. “On November 12, Deshmukh left home without informing her parents and Shirsat called two of his cousins—Manoj (26) and Avinash Gavle (23)—from Nandurbar to help them.”
As Deshmukh’s parents had lodged a missing complaint with the Chaupada police in Jalgaon, the RPF team got in touch with them. Around 1pm, RPF also called up Deshmukh’s mother and informed her about her daughter’s whereabouts. By 11pm, a Chaupada police officer reached Borivli RPF outpost with Deshmukh’s parents and the family was reunited.
