C&K Components has developed a new series of rugged rocker switches. Designated the FNR series, the 3-position forward/neutral/reverse switch provides 1,000,000 life cycles for each active position and is sealed to IP68 specifications. The FNR series has wire or solder termination options and is mounted with a snap-in mount. Capable of up to 5A resistive load, the switch is ideal for harsh environments, off-road, industrial, transportation, marine and military applications where strong switch feedback and high-current switching is pivotal.
These pushbutton switches feature a robust design including gold-over-silver contacts for low-power applications or silver-plated contacts. The IP68 sealing and extended life cycles make them ideal where down time is costly and repair is impractical, said Owen Camden, business development manager for C&K Components.

The FNR series features two C&K NP series sealed pushbuttons that are RoHS-compliant with aluminum housings. The switch actuation force is approximately 8N ± 3N, and travel to contact is approximately 1.6mm. The rugged switch is able to withstand a vibration force of 10-500Hz per 10g and a shock rating of 50g 11ms sawtooth wave.

The FNR rocker has dielectric strength of 1000V AC for 1 min and initial contact resistance of 50m? without wire leads. The rocker's rated electrical load is 10mA/5 VDC for the gold-over-silver contact material and the silver contact version is rated 1A/28 VDC for 1,000,000 cycles, 5A/28 VDC for 25,000 cycles (resistive), or 3A/28 VDC for 25,000 cycles (inductive).

Operating temperatures for the FNR series ranges from -40°C to +85°C.
