Metallica joins Jimmy Fallon and The Roots for a classroom instrument rendition of 'Enter Sandman'

NEW YORK, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Metallica joined The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on a version of their 1991 hit Enter Sandman -- played only with classroom instruments.

The song's famous guitar riff was translated into something a little less metal with the help of kazoos, a child's xylophone, toy drums and a melodica.

Fallon joined Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield on vocals for the band's best-known song, while The Roots' drummer, Questlove, helped keep the beat with large plastic hands.

The band appeared on the show to promote their upcoming album "Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct," which comes out on Friday.
