Demonetisation: Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee protest outside RBI office

After addressing a joint rally in Azadpur Mandi in the national capital, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and  West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reached Reserve Bank of India headquarters in New Delhi. Mamata said that they have reached RBI to ask people about their trouble.”Now they have reduced withdrawal limit to Rs 2000, it means that govt lack funds. The country is going in financial crises,” said Mamata.  Kejriwal accused Modi of ‘imposing dictatorship’ in the entire country, he said that people are facing huge trouble due to this move. “People can’t withdraw money for their health treatment, suddenly imposing such a move and putting people in trouble is not right,” Kejriwal said. Meanwhile, chants of “Mod-Modi” were also heard at RBI headquarters. Some more TMC leaders, particularly the MPs who are currently in Delhi, are expected to join the protest. It was reported that the process of exchanging money at the bank was also affected after the visit by two leaders.

Earlier, the two leaders addressed a huge rally at the Azadpur Mandi in New Delhi seeking immediate withdrawal of the demonetisation drive. During the rally, both the CMs left no stones unturned criticising Narendra Modi and the BJP and their decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currencies. During the rally, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that there is an economic emergency going on in the country and have also questioned the ruling government if this is what they termed as ‘achhe din’. “My heart goes out to the poor people of the country and our MPs have moved notices against the government,” said the Bengal CM at the rally. Extending her anger and distress towards the demonetisation, Banerjee has also demanded a rollback of note ban within 3 days from now. She said she is all hands with the BJP in fighting towards corruption, but will not tolerate if common people of the country suffers.
