Assam tourism goes global at international travel meet

The department of tourism, government of Assam, participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 7 to November 9.

GUWAHATI: The department of tourism, government of Assam, participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 7 to November 9.
A team of officers from the tourism department, led by additional chief secretary of tourism VS Bhaskar, along with a team of seven tour and travel partners from Assam were part of the Awesome Assam team. The ministry of tourism was the official premier partner of the global event this year.
WTM is considered a leading global event for the travel industry.
The three-day meet facilitated business-to-business (B2B) meetings and exhibitions for the worldwide tourism and travel industry. More than 125 B2B meetings were held at the Assam pavilion. The pavilion was designed with the theme 'Awesome Assam' and showcased a wide range of categories wildlife, river and cruise, nature and eco, heritage and history, tea and golf, among others.
Mahesh Sharma, Union minister for tourism, was given a warm welcome by VS Bhaskar. Bhaskar and his team briefed the international media on strategies adopted by Assam to promote tourism.
