N Chandrababu Naidu takes stock of infra works in Vijayawada

The Chief Minister said Bhogapuram airport should be one among the top 10 greenfeild airports.

Vijayawada: The Government plans to establish an Energy and Logistics university in the state. It will be established as a central university on 500 acres of land, according to principal secretary Ajay Jain.

The logistics university in Kakinada will come up with an outlay of
Rs 200 crore. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to ensure the smooth conducting of classes at the Logistics University by next year. During a meeting conducted at the CMO on Wednesday, Mr Naidu said AP must be made into a petroleum hydro carbon hub.

The officials told the Chief Minister about the performance of the airports and the passenger traffic. The airports of Tirupati, Rajamundry, Vishakapatanam, Vijayawada and Kadapa have registered a growth rate of 44 per cent from April to October 2016.

The highest percentage of passenger traffic was seen at the Visakhapatanam airport with over 13,22,538 passing through its terminals. The expansion of airports at Tirupati, Rajamundry and Vijayawada are going on simultaneously, the officials informed the CM.

Officials added that that they are working out the required sanctions for getting an international status to the Tirupati airport. Some 82 per cent of land is under possession for the Bhogapuram greenfields airport. As and when the environmental clearance is complete, it will be submitted to the PCB by the first week of December, 2016, the officials said. GMR group, GVK group, Adani ports, Essel infra, Tata and AAI are the main bidders.

The Chief Minister said Bhogapuram airport should be one among the top 10 greenfeild airports. For the Dagadarthi airport, Orvakal, Donakonda and Nagarjuna Sagar acquisition is under progress. The Chief Minister said the proposed convention centre at Vizag should be built facing the sea and the beach corridor from Bhogapuram to Bheemili should be the best one — featuring world-class infrastructure and amenities such as food courts and malls, the CM said.

The officials also informed Naidu about the ports’ performance and said Vizag port grew at a healthy nine per cent from April to October, 2016. The Chief Minister suggested that a separate website be created for the updating of real-time information from all the infrastructure projects. Mr Naidu also asked for the provision of live updates which he said must reflect key construction milestones of the projects.
