The chairman of the Smokin Hills Golf Resort in Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, Chief Michael Adeojo, has promised that next  year’s  Elizabeth Wuraola Adeojo Memorial Golf Tournament will  be more entertaining.

Mohammed Sulaiman, of Kano Golf Club;  Lasisi Lateef of Abeokuta Golf Club;  and Grace Yusuf of Ado Ekiti Golf Club,  emerged as  winners  at  the tournament,  which ended on Sunday.

Adeojo, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the tournament, said golfers for the 14th edition  would not be accommodated outside the golf club as the sponsor of the tournament,  Toyota (Nigeria) Limited,  would construct a new hotel before the beginning of the tournament.

He said, “By the special grace of the Almighty God, golfers coming here next year will experience new challenges at this competition. They will be accommodated within the  Golf Resort.”

A new five-star hotel complete with swimming pools will provide accommodation for  golfers coming here next year to play in this new 18-hole course.”

Managing Director of TNL,  Chief Adekunle Ojo, praised the standard of play  at the event and the  turnout.

Sulaiman playing handicap 9, produced a net point of 68 to claim his first victory at the tourney in the amateur category. The first and second runners-up Adebayo Dapo and Lee Gibson posted a net of 73 and 74 respectively.

However, no golfer was able to win the Toyota Hilux prize for the Hole-in-One competition.
