Janardhan Reddy's daughter's wedding: A woman of steel finds her match

The gala five-day affair now moves to the Reddys' hometown Ballari.

Bengaluru: A golden replica of Hampi’s Virupakshi temple that provided a setting of great opulence, a feast with over a 100 dishes, celebrities from across the country and of course, the blushing bride herself - the Janardhan Reddy family wedding certainly lived up to the hype!

It was this bid at total opulence that landed Reddy in the midst of a raging controversy surrounding the legitimacy of his great wealth, even if he was all smiles as he handed his daughter away to the groom.

The 50,000-odd guests, who included stars from the Kannada, Tamil and Telegu industries, were entertained by artistes and dancers from across the world. A bevy of politicians were in attendance too, despite the promise of a boycott — spotted were Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, Home Minister G. Parameshwar and even BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa. Reddy, the mining baron who just finished a three-and-a-half year stint in jail, married off his 19-year-old daughter Brahmini, heavily bedecked in diamonds and silk, to Rajeev Reddy, the son of a South Africa-based gold and diamond mine owner from Hyderabad. The gala five-day affair now moves to the Reddys’ hometown Ballari.
