Studying for hours in the night and working extra hours during the weekends has paid off well for Gospel High School Dux, Joselyn Gounder.

The Year 12 student said she had sacrificed a lot.

“I have learned that if you work hard, nothing is going to stop you and just keep believing and have faith then nothing will be impossible,” the 18-year-old said.

Joselyn, who aspires to become a neurosurgeon, also received awards for subject prizes in biology, chemistry, physics and English.

“Since Year nine, I always have it in my heart to become the Dux after looking at the previous Dux awards. So this year I really worked hard for it.

“I can’t believe it. There were many temptations but I manage to get through.  I got full support from home and they’ve always been there for me.”

The competition in class and keeping up with her grades was a challenge, she said.
