From ‘Pulp Fiction’ to ‘Shrek 2,’ Celebrating Fast Food’s Role in Movies for National Fast Food Day

Nov. 16 is National Fast Food Day. And if there’s one thing we’re pretty familiar with here at Yahoo Movies, besides movies, it’s fast food. So in honor of the big day, we loaded up on Big Macs and Whoppers and Gorditas and came up with a list of all the best times fast food and movies have come together.

The first stop on this train to a coronary is the year 1988. Whether it’s Ronald McDonald himself making in appearance during a memorable song-and-dance number in Mac and Me or Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall working at McDowell’s in Coming to America, it was a big year for fast food in movies.

Another category that seemed to rise to the top like french fries in a deep fat fryer is movie sequels. Wayne’s World 2 from 1993 boasts a memorable drive-through scene, and 2004’s Shrek 2 and 2006’s Clerks II also feature the convenient, affordable alternative to a healthy dinner.

So sit back, relax, and make sure you have plenty of ketchup packets, because we’re celebrating fast food’s role in movies. Happy National Fast Food Day!
