PALANPUR: The Mehsana police on Tuesday busted a racket wherein people were being duped by promising them double the currency notes in exchange.
Meshana district superintendent of police, Chaitanya Mandlik told TOI that they have seized some chemicals, cutting machines and papers and bundles of Rs 10, Rs 50 and Rs 100 denomination notes worth Rs 9,630 in Karli village near Unjha.

“The currency notes were in bundles of Rs 20, 50 and Rs 100 bundles that were given in exchange for genuine notes twice its value. A bundle of Rs 5,000 was given away after taking genuine Rs 2,500 notes,” said RB Valand, Unjha police inspector.
"The modus operandi was to give two bundles of counterfeit notes for one bundle of genuine currency, which was tempting to the unsuspecting," Valand told TOI.
The miscreants, who are yet to be arrested, used to slip in blank papers exactly the size of the currency notes in the bundles.
Police suspect an organized gang behind the racket. A case of cheating has been lodged in the case
