Tarsing Karmo celebrates its Golden Jubilee

LEH, Nov 15: Braving the bone chilling temperature, thousands of devotees across Ladakh thronged the holy place Tarsing Karmo Shayok, located near the Daulat Beigh Olde sector in Changthang region to marks its Golden Jubilee celebration. The devotees from different walks of life gathered to celebrate the occasion.
Shachukul Monastery Dorjay Lobon, Executive Councillor for Tourism Tsering Sangdup, Chushul Councillors Konchok Stanzin, Martselang Councillors Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Nominated Councillor Venerable Chospel, BMO Tangtse Dr Mohd Iqbal, BDO and other official were also present to grace the occasion.
The two- day festival falls on 14th and 15th day of the ninth month of Tibetan calendar. The main attraction of the festival is the two oracles Lachen Takla Wangchuk and Chushul Lha appearing on the second day coinciding with full moon day and they gives predictions to which people believe with undaunted faith to prepare themselves for the future. The mountains of Tarsing Karmo, located in front of the natural caves, believed to possess number of natural depictions of deities and goddesses which believed to possess immense powers to solace seekers. The natural caves at the holy site are believed to be from the Guru Padma Sambhav era where he used to meditate and some of his footprint can also be seen on the huge rock that formed the caves.
The founder of holy site Tarsing Karmo Skyabje Togdan Rinpoche, mentioning about the significance of festival, said that one who seek obeisance from Tarsing Karmo get his/her wishes and aspiration fulfilled and seeking blessing from Tarsing Karmo worth meditating for years. He also mentioned in detail about all the natural images of deities found on the mountain of Tarsing Tarmo. Rinpoche also said that this route was famous as Silk route trade in the ancient time. He appealed the CEC for his help to develop the area to make plantation around the holy site. He also urged CEC to construct a foot bridge on the nearby River for the convenience of devotees.
CEC Dr Sonam Dawa assured his best possible effort to open the area for tourist and said he had discussion with Army officer in this regard.
