Who is Kris Kobach? Well, the short answer is that if he is able to be confirmed, he would be the man most likely to enthusiastically undo all the abuses of the immigration system that Barack Obama has put in place. Kobach is a protege of John Ashcroft but his real claim to fame is the outright war he has declared on voting fraud. Specifically, his hard core stance on not allowing illegal aliens to register to vote. He was also a contributor to the Arizona law that allowed local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws (HB 1070) and is credited with being the author of Alabama’s version of HB 1070, HB 56. His record in the court cases is mixed but he is nothing if not undaunted. (Read a, IMO, very fair profile of him here.) He is hated by La Raza and the ACLU… so that is a positive indicator of his integrity.

Beyond the immigration portfolio, Kobach strikes one as a straight arrow who would not let someone sling classified documents about the internet, be overly concerned about wadded panties when it comes to investigating Islamic terrorism, and he certainly won’t be selling weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

If Trump wants to send a signal to people that he is dead serious about enforcing immigration laws, and laws in general, Kobach might be the best messenger available.
