5 months on, murder of CA's wife still a mystery

LUDHIANA: More than five months after wife of a chartered accountant of posh Dyal Nagar area was murdered, Ludhiana police are yet to get any clues on the accused in the case.
On, 60-year-old Mridula Sachdeva was found murdered in the drawing room of her two-storey house, an hour after her husband Ravinder Sachdeva had gone to his office. The pet dog, which remained terminally ill, was found in the adjoining room apparently in unconscious condition.
Talking about the latest status of the case, station house office (SHO), division number eight police station, Jaspal Singh said the accused in the case is yet to be identified.
He added that police have got no major clue that leads to identification of the accused.
Police officials said that one the CCTV cameras installed at the entrance of the street where the woman lived had shown a person on a two wheeler, but only his back is visible in the camera footage. They added that even the finger prints gathered by experts from the spot haven't revealed much.
Cops meanwhile said questioning of two maids didn't yield much as they had no clue about the activities at the house.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased said they are disappointed with the investigation of police.
"For four months, my daughter Shipra Sachdeva, who lives in Saudi Arabia, kept making rounds of the offices of ACP, DCP and others, but didn't see solid action on the ground. She returned on November 2 after getting disappointed with the probe. They couldn't even get the picture of suspect, which was captured by
CCTV camera, published in newspaper so that he could be identified. The police officers kept on promising that they will do it. They even haven't got viscera report from the laboratory," said Ravinder Sachdeva.
"I will check with lawyers and if there is a provision for filing a petition directly in the court, I will do that," Sachdeva said adding that they want the culprit to be identified and brought to book.|
11.45 am | Mridula was only one at home after her husband left for his work in Atam Nagar area. The accused, believed to be an acquaintance of the family, entered the house around noon.
12 noon | The criminal then allegedly smashed a vase onto the head of the elderly and allegedly strangulated her before throwing her body in the drawing room
12.10 pm | The criminal fled in the victim's two-wheeler which had keys inserted in it.
1.30 pm | The maid who had come to clean the house informed the neighbours after seeing the body of the elderly woman
1.35 pm | One of the neighbours checked the pulse of the woman, but she had died by then
2 pm | Husband of the deceased reaches home after being informed by a neighbour
Clues in the case:
1. CCTV footage from a camera installed at the entrance of street showed a person going on the scooty owned by the Sachdevas.
