Even as day-to-day activities in Sandalwood are slowly grinding to a halt and cinema halls are reporting low footfalls owing to the demonetization-induced cash crunch, the team of Nataraja Service is set to take this on.
'Till November 30, all single-screen theatres that play our film will accept Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes towards ticket charges. In the past few days, theatres have seen a slump in business, as people have not been able to exchange old notes or procure new ones from ATMs.
We are looking at tackling this by enabling them to use old notes. This, however, does not mean that they can brandish a Rs 500 note and buy one ticket that costs, say, Rs 90, and expect change in return. We are looking at family audiences, who will pick up 4-5 tickets together. We will accept demonetized currency from them and provide change,' says director Pavan Wadeyar.
Muniraju, the distributor of the Sharan- and Mayuri-starrer, adds, 'Theatre owners have already paid me in advance to book the film and need to make good on their payments. Considering that the government has allowed exchange of old notes up to December 30, we are looking at utilizing that window to deposit the cash that we collect till November 30,' he says.
