BEGUSARAI: The murder of 12-year-old Vipul Kumar, son of Ramanuj Singh, a BJP activist of Manopur village under Bhagwanpur police station in Begusarai district, has sparked mob fury with angry villagers torching the house of the alleged killer and setting at least three motorcycles and a four-wheeler on fire. Vipul, who was shot at on Sunday evening, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital here on Monday.
Police said the agitated villagers accompanying the kin of the victim took away the body to the village before post-mortem. They then went on the rampage, torching the house of one of the alleged killers and setting three motorcycles and a four-wheeler on fire. Additional police forces have been deployed in the village to control the situation.
Begusarai SP Ranjit Kumar Mishra, who rushed to the spot on Monday, said the angry villagers also blocked Bhagwanpur-Bacchwara road for several hours demanding action against the Bhagwanpur SHO. “The situation is now under control. Bhagwanpur SHO Chandramani has been suspended with immediate effect,” the SP added.
Sources said Vipul was shot at by one Chunchun Singh, a transporter, near his house at Manopur village. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Chunchun is alleged to be involved in another murder committed in the village a month back. Villagers alleged that the Bhagwanpur SHO took no action against Chunchun after the murder.
