Adam Gilchrist celebrates 45th birthday with Sachin Tendulkar

Australia's cricket legend Adam Gilchrist on Monday celebrated his 45th birthday at batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar's home here, the dashing southpaw tweeted. (Latest Cricket stories)

"What a legend @sachin_rt at his home and he surprises me with "Gilly" cake on my birthday. #thoughtfulness #thanks," tweeted the wicketkeeper-batsman with a picture of him and Tendulkar posing in front of a cake.

"One of the best men to have ever stood behind a wicket, @gilly381! A very Happy Birthday to you mate! I hope you catch all the good times!" tweeted Sachin, to which Gilly, as he is popularly known, thanked him again.

Gilchrist has 417 catches and 55 stumpings to his name in One-Day International (ODI) cricket, a record that was broken by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara in 2015.

With the bat, the explosive batsman scored 5,570 runs in 96 Tests at an average of 47.60. In ODIs, he scored 9,619 runs from 287 matches at a strike rate of 96.94.

Gilly retired from international cricket in March 2008.
