Service uplift includes a new golf link set for 2018, renovations to the Le Telfair hotel and the addition of more outdoor activities.
Speaking to TTG, Jacques Charles, Heritage’s chief operations officer, revealed details of the upcoming renovations.
Topics disused included the development of a new golf course for guests of the Le Telfair and Awali hotels; set to be completed by the end of 2018.
The new links will be designed by renowned golf course developer Peter Matkovich, previously responsible for the resorts’ current 18-hole championship course.
Charles explained the reasons behind the partnership renewal with the South African.
He said: “Peter is a great guy and he knows the region well. He can take advantage of the land to make the course both technically challenging and beautiful at the same time.”
The course will be situated further north of the resort, moving out of the flat lands of the south closer to the mountainous regions, he added.
“We want to offer clients a different environment to play in – the same in terms of quality but different in design.”
Heritage’s golf links already boast seals of quality; they have previously been awarded two World Golf Awards titles - the ‘Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel”, with its third win just announced this weekend.
Further developments include renovations to Heritage Le Telfair set to take place between May and August 2017, during which the hotel will close.
“We are going to bring touches of modernity to the hotel’s elegant and seductive design. For example we are looking at making all rooms and suites brighter and more contemporary.”
Additional offerings over the coming months include the launch of mountain bike tours and picnic outings in the adjacent Frederica Nature Reserve, a new open air cinema available at the Le Telfair and the employment of a
wellness coordinator and osteopath.
New activities and services will be priced separately, added Charles.
“Our hotels are not like business hotels, guests are not just a number. We want every experience to be unique and special.”
