2 carrying ganja in car knock down cops

Three policemen were injured when they tried to stop a car at Benaras Road in Howrah on Sunday. Police later stopped it, seized 1.7kg ganja and arrested two persons.

HOWRAH: Three policemen were injured when they tried to stop a car at Benaras Road in Howrah on Sunday. Police later stopped it, seized 1.7kg ganja and arrested two persons.
Around 4.30am, civic volunteer Dipak Barui, constable Sarafuddin Mondal and ASI Mithun Ghosh spotted a red car speeding towards the checkpoint where they were on duty . "When they tried to stop it, the car hit them and tried to speed past the guard railings.
Other cops rushed to their assistance and forced the people out of the car," an officer said. Though all three cops were hurt, Bauri's wounds were more serious than the others since he was hit first.
Bauri is being treated at Howrah hospital.The other two were released after initial treatment. “We have recovered 1.7 kg of ganja worth nearly Rs 7 lakh," said deputy commissioner (Detective Department), Howrah Police Commissionerate Sumit Kumar.
