Woman killed in accident, 9 injured

Madurai: An old woman was killed when a bus and a lorry collided head-on near Melur in Madurai district on Sunday afternoon. The lorry was on its way from Melur to Thirupathur and the bus was coming in the opposite direction from Karaikudi, on its way to Melur, police said.
"They collided head-on near E Malampatti in Melur. Sundarammal,58, who was sitting behind the driver in the bus was killed on the spot.Nine others, who sustained injuries, have been admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital and Melur hospital," a police officer said.
