Four drug peddlers held

MANDI: The police arrested four persons with 2-kg charas at Sundernagar this morning.

The police arrested four persons with 2-kg charas at Sundernagar this morning.

The accused have been identified as Vinod Kumar from Balh, Bimla Devi from Bhumtir, Vinod Kumar from Padhar and Lalit Kumar from Katipari village in Mandi.

Vinod Kumar and Bimla Devi were apprehended near Pungh during a naka. On search, 1.684-kg charas was recovered from Vinod and 372 gram from Bimla Devi.The two other accused were nabbed from Naresh Chawk at Sundernagar. The police recovered 191-gm opium from Vinod and Lalit. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.

Charas seized

Kullu: The Kullu police yesterday seized 3.6-kg charas from an Alto car at Hurludhar. Kullu Assistant Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi said that taxi driver was on his way back from Manikaran to Bhuntar and he offered a lift to a person for Rs 100 from Jari. The ASP said while the taxi driver came out to show the papers of the vehicle, the other person fled. Later, 3.6-kg charas was recovered from his bag.
