BENGALURU: Kannada film Maasti Gudi’s director Nagashekhar, stunt director Ravi Verma and associate director Siddu surrendered before Magadi police on Saturday morning. Nagashekhar had on Tuesday morning gone to the police station to give a preliminary statement but had been absconding since.
On Monday, actors Anil Kumar Venugopal and Uday Raghav died, after they leapt into the waters of TG reservoir from a chopper during the film’s shoot.

In a fatal accident on Monday, during the shooting of one of the scenes in the movie at TG Halli lake, two actors plunged to death.
At 11am on Saturday, a black SUV stopped outside Magadi police station; the trio was accompanied by Duniya Vijay, the film’s hero. here brought all the three in his black Range Rover and the surrender took place at around 12.30 noon, Magadi police said. Police are now looking for unit manager Bharath, who’s still at large. “We received a communication from Duniya Vijay in the morning, saying the three were willing to surrender. We arrested them immediately and subjected them to probe,” said Magadi police.
In their joint statement, the accused trio is said to have confessed to negligence on their part. “As we had hired a motor boat to get the actors to the banks after the shot, that would rush towards them soon after jumping from the chopper, we didn’t think of other options like safety jacket or rubber tubes. Unfortunately, the boat didn’t start,” the trio told police.
Cops also questioned Duniya Vijay who too had jumped into the water on that fateful day, but was was rescued in the nick of time. “We have to scan the video footage before commencing another round of probe. Everyone, including the film’s hero, should have followed safety regulations. We will decide on the next course of action after going through the shoot sequence,” police said.
The trio was produced before JMFC court, Ramanagara, and remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The three have been booked under IPC’s Section 304(culpable homicide not amounting to murder). , Tavarekere police had booked criminal case against director, Producer, Unit manager and stunt master.
