Burglars cut open ATM in Godhra

VADODARA: An Indicash ATM at Kakanpur in Godhra taluka was forced open by unidentified persons sometime on Friday night. The Godhra taluka police is yet to register an offence in the case.
According to sources, the incident came to light on Saturday morning when a sweeper opened the shutter of the ATM in a complex on the Jhadeshwar Road in Kakanpur. He saw that the ATM had been cut open and informed the police.
The police have informed the officials of the company that operates the ATM and has sought details of cash, if any, that may have been kept in it.
Sources, however, said that the police had been told by locales that the ATM had not been operational since the last few days.
Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that the ATM may have been cut open using a gas cutter or a similar instrument. The functionaries of the company had not registered an offence till Saturday night.
