Staff members of Fiji Meat Industry Board (FMIB) took time off their busy work schedule yesterday to do some charity work at the St Christopher’s Home in Nakasi, Nasinu.

Livai Maravou said they recently formed a social club at FMIB, with him being elected president.

Their main aim is to encourage staff members to take part in charity work and build up work relations and team work within their organisation.

“We came here along with our grass cutters, knives and rakes to clean up the whole compound, and this is the first time we are doing this,” Mr Maravou said.

“I am really pleased with the participation of the staff and their contribution today.

“This really paints a good picture of teamwork.

“This is something the FMIB Staff will be doing for our children in homes, and this is the beginning of it.”

The FMIB staff plans to visit the Dilkusha Children’s Home next.

Sister Kalolaine Tuineau, who is in charge of the home, said: “St Christopher’s Home is really blessed with charity works and we thank God for the different organisation and particularly today to the FMIB staff for cleaning the compound and making sure that the children’s home is clean.

St Christopher’s Home accommodates 25 children.

The home was established in 1968 to advance education, health and welfare of children in the country.
